The "Activist" Judges who Legalized Gay Marriage were Republicans

Fri May 16, 2008 at 04:03:58 PM PDT

Seems the wingnuts have a bit of a blame game disconnect brewing over the decision by the California Supreme Court to allow gay marriage yesterday.

The decision was made by Republican judges.

But this simple fact won't stop the right wing windbags from bloviating.

SACRAMENTO - Conservative Republicans have already blasted the California Supreme Court ruling legalizing same-sex marriage.

Congressional candidate Duncan D. Hunter called it an assault on families "by out-of-control liberal judges."

Assembly Republican Leader Mike Villines of Fresno said he was disappointed that the justices "would allow their own personal partisan views to get in the way of their duty."

It's the familiar argument that the GOP has used for years against Democrats and the judges they appoint.

But this time, there's just one problem: three of the four judges who ruled in favor of legalizing same-sex marriages were appointed by Republican governors.

Here is a breakdown of who the judges were and how they voted.

It's tough being a hater these days. Especially when your own team turns out to be a bunch of gay-hugging activist judges.

Bonus Question: Why are conservatives so obsessed by what goes on in other people's bedrooms?
